What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing that was first documented in 1922 by Mikao Usui. The goal of reiki is to promote the healthy flow of Ki (also known as Chi, Prana, Ti, Ki) which is receptive to thoughts and feelings. William Lee Rand (2022) describes Reiki as Ki that is guided by spiritual consciousness. 

Reiki can be practiced by anyone who is attuned and is transferred to the client via physical touch or hovering above the area. Some practitioners also use crystals, sound medicine or aromatherapy to aid in this process. Reiki can be a great addition to western medicine, is beneficial for mental + physical health and relaxation, and can aid in spiritual growth.
